Liverpool transfer news: Reds ‘rejected’ £11.8m Marseille bid for midfielder

Liverpool have rejected a €14m transfer bid from Marseille for Japan international Wataru Endo.

The Reds signed Endo from Stuttgart last summer after going to Chelsea in a bid to sign both Moses Caicedo and Romeo Lavia.

The Japan international made 44 appearances in his first season on Merseyside, with three goals and one assist.

Although he only joined Liverpool last year, it has now emerged that he has been the subject of a bid from Marseille.

Liverpool reject Marseille’s Endo offer

According to the journalist Fabrizio RomanoLiverpool recently rejected a €14m (£11.8m) bid from the French giants.

The update states that Marseille’s pursuit of Endo “collapsed weeks ago” as they turned their attention to other midfield targets.

Roberto De ZerbiHis team has since signed the Canadian international Ishmael Kone from Watford for a fee of €12m (£10.1m), plus add-ons.

They also recruited Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg on a season-long loan deal from Tottenham Hotspur with an obligation to buy for £17m.

Marseille are now focused on strengthening in other positions, making it unlikely that they will come back with an improved offer for Endo.

Why did Liverpool reject Endo’s offer?
