Manchester United receive Victor Lindelof boost, the moment is good for two reasons

Manchester United welcomed Victor Lindelof back to training amid the defender’s injury battle.

Victor Lindelof has been a curious absentee from all three of Manchester United’s pre-season games so far.

The Sweden international captain did not train in the 24 hours before the Arsenal game and was not part of the matchday squad when Manchester United took on the Gunners.

Victor Lindelof has now returned to full training, Manchester United have confirmed.

The return of Victor Lindelof helps

Victor Lindelof’s return to action is welcome against a Manchester United side who now see Leny Yoro out with injury.

New signing Leny Yoro started against Arsenal but had to be substituted after 35 minutes.

The extent of Yoro’s injury is still being determined, with Manchester United assessing his situation.

In any case, United are likely to tread very carefully and we don’t expect to see Yoro play either of the next two US tournaments.

United need to give minutes to other players and Victor Lindelof helps fill the gap created by Yoro’s absence.

His availability will also help to share the minutes, ensuring that Harry Maguire or Jonny Evans are not overmatched. Lisandro Martinez is still absent, due to the Copa America.

This will help Erik ten Hag, who will also want to get minutes for Lindelof, should he stay.

Lindelof’s return could hasten the exit

Victor Lindelof has just one year left on his contract and it makes sense for the Red Devils to cash in.

Selling a player becomes much more difficult when he is injured, and with that in mind, Lindelof’s return could help.

Manchester United are still negotiating a deal for Matthijs de Ligt but have yet to agree a fee with Bayern Munich.

Getting a small fee for Victor Lindelof could be the difference, while also creating salary cap space.
