Traveling youth club to host weekly sessions at Fishponds car park during the summer holidays

A youth charity is bringing its popular travel youth club to Fishponds during the summer holidays. Youth Bristol, who run the Youth Club on Wheels initiative, will be bringing the club to Fishponds McDonalds car park every Thursday between 2pm and 4pm.

The mobile youth service works with young people aged eight to 19 from hard-to-reach areas of Bristol and rural areas where young people have little to do. It currently has sessions in Brislington, Henbury, Hengrove, Horfield, Speedwell and St Pauls, as well as Bishop Sutton in Somerset.

The traveling youth service, which stopped in Fishponds for the first time on Thursday, July 25, will stop every week as a result of being self-funded by the owner of McDonalds. Laura Wilder, who became the youngest ever female McDonalds franchisee and opened a 24-hour organic branch in Emersons Green, says she is “incredibly passionate” about the project.

According to Youth Bristol’s website, the Youth Club on Wheels project offers opportunities and activities for young people. This includes:
