M1 live updates as police incident stops southbound traffic near junction 26 for Nottingham

All traffic has been stopped on a major stretch of the M1 in Nottinghamshire due to an incident with police this afternoon. Traffic monitoring website Inrix says the affected section is near Junction 26 of the M1 Southbound for the A610 (Nottingham/Eastwood).

Inrix says there is queued traffic on the southbound side of the carriageway, but traffic is also slow on the northbound side “due to onlookers” this afternoon (Monday, July 29). The National Highways confirmed the congestion between Junction 26 and Intersection 27.

Google traffic data currently shows delays stretching from Stapleford to Underwood. Nottinghamshire Live has approached Nottinghamshire Police for comment.
