The former Bristol Rovers midfielder is on trial at their League One rivals following Gas’ departure

Former Bristol Rovers midfielder Jordan Rossiter is currently on trial at League One rivals Shrewsbury Town following his departure from the Gas.

The 27-year-old left Rovers when his contract expired at the end of last season and is currently looking for a new club, with Shrewsbury starting the midfielder in their 2-1 pre-season friendly win over Derby County. Saturday. Rossiter was also on trial in Stockport County earlier this summer, seen in footage shared on their social media accounts.

The Salops have already signed two players whose Gas contracts expired at the end of last season in Luca Hoole and John Marquis, with the pair also starting against Derby.

Playing around 70 minutes, the Liverpool academy product looked to impress for the Shropshire side, with head coach Paul Hurst telling BBC Radio Shropshire after the game: “I thought the midfielder did quite well. I thought he parted ways with the game well. he clearly understands the position and has shown a lot of know-how there.

“I think he impressed. He impressed somebody who was clamoring to sign him, but I think for some people it wouldn’t always be the obvious one. He did a lot of things that I think his teammates and staff would really passionate.”

Rossiter made a total of just four appearances for Rovers last season, playing in the last quartet of their games, after enduring a harrowing 16 months in which knee surgery led to a serious infection, of which there was a one in 10,000 to get sick, that made the 27-year-old sick.
