3 things to know about Leicester City targeted by Ben Doak

The Foxes have extended the stays of Jamie Vardy, Jannik Vestergaard and Wilfred Ndidi, signing Michael Golding, Abdul Fatawu and Caleb Okoli for a fee and bringing in Bobby De Cordova-Reid on a free transfer. There is a lot of work to be done already on the ground, but Cooper clearly believes there is more to do.

One of the countless links is with Liverpool youngster Ben Doak. The Scottish winger is an interesting prospect, although he clearly wouldn’t come in front of any current players and should be behind Wanya Marcal-Madivadua in the pecking order. However, the player has strong points that Leicester should be interested in.

The main feature noted by the media and supporters analysts at Anfield is the sheer pace and acceleration that the player displays. Essentially, Doak exemplifies the fundamentals needed to be an explosive winger who can hit the ball past a defensive line and rush the ball forward either into the box for a chance or down the wing to help the whole team progress.

Of course, we’re not sure if the Wales head coach will play Leicester City in a style that requires this, but the Scottish winger could compete with Fatawu as time goes on and can play on both the left and right to compete with Stephy Mavididi. . The King Power side could use his energy and pace as an impact sub for either wing when faced with stronger opposition to take advantage of transitions and counters.

However, it’s important to note that Doak lacks a clinical finish at this point in his career, so he wouldn’t offer much in terms of offensive contribution. Cooper would probably want to use the player only as a progressive winger who can start deeper and help the team going forward. I don’t see the talent as a first team signing or a second team signing.

So positionally he is a complete winger, he fundamentally offers a progressive and rhythmic style of play, but he doesn’t have the quality right now to be an immediate member of the squad with such a critical season ahead of the Foxes . Leicester probably shouldn’t sign permanently and have a loan with an option to buy if the loan spell is successful. After all, they are also interested in a more accomplished wing in Reiss Nelson.
