Bicyclist suffers ‘life-changing injuries’ in Hwy 12 crash: OPP

A section of Highway 12 is closed this morning following a collision between a vehicle and a bicyclist, OPP officials say.

Highway 12 is closed between Forest Avenue and Atherley Road as members of the OPP Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) team conduct an investigation.

“What we now know is that a motor vehicle struck a bicyclist,” OPP officials said in an email to OrilliaMatters. “Our TIME team is on the scene and reconstructionists are investigating. The highway will remain closed while they complete their investigation.”

The bicyclist was airlifted to a Toronto-area trauma center with “life-changing injuries,” OPP officials say.
