The youngsters set lifetime best times during the second session in Sheffield

There were some huge moments of a lifetime during the second session of the GoCardless Swim England National Summer Meet 2024.

Bromley’s Hayden Sanders was one of the standout performers after bettering his best ever time by nearly 42 seconds in the Open/Male 13 Years 1500m Freestyle.

He won the national title for his age group in a time of 17:25.67 after his best, set at the Crawley Spring L1 Open Meet LC 2024 in April, was 18:07.44.

His gold medal-winning time also saw Sanders finish just 0.99 ahead of Tigers Jersey’s Jack Militis (17:26.66), who took home the silver.

Northumberland and Durham’s Archie McGuire was awarded the bronze medal after finishing third.

York City swimmer Alexander Tew was another who destroyed his lifetime best after clocking 17:07.13 to win gold in the 14/15 age group.

The 15-year-old shaved more than 16 seconds off his time after clocking 17:23.13 at the 2024 City of Sheffield Team Steel Meet just over a month ago.

Tew was joined on the podium by Barnet Copthall swimmer Thomas Croke and Basildon Phoenix’s Conor Mint, who finished second and third respectively.

Croke clocked 17:11.77 while Mint cruised home in 17:14.57 to claim their medals.

It was close between the gold and silver medal positions in the 16-year-old age groups.

Just 0.77 separated Daniel Belsey from Jackson Schwiderski, with Belsey finishing fastest of the pair and also bettering his best time by around 15.5 seconds.

The Hatfield swimmer clocked 16:52.97 and Wycombe’s Schwiderski clocked 16:53.74 for silver. City of Liverpool’s Aidan Kearney took home the bronze medal.

Mount Kelly’s Philip Cinpoes and Birmingham University’s Daniel Cox were victorious in their respective age groups.

In the 17-year-old event, Cinpoes shaved more than six seconds off his personal best as he went under the 17-minute mark for only the second time ever.

He beat off competition from Ipswich swimmer Patch Robinson (16:52.01) and Northampton’s Manav Mistry (16:54.65) to win the title.

Cox, 20, meanwhile, went three seconds off his best for gold in the 18-and-over age group.

His time of 16:14.17 saw him finish just ahead of Portsmouth Northsea swimmer Jack Booth Rudd (16:15.44) in second, with Corby’s Samuel Cooke (16:18.82) completing the podium.
