Leeds United face Norwich City at Elland Road on Thursday in the second leg of their play-off semi-final and it’s a stadium that Jonathan Rowe thinks is possibly the best he’s ever seen.

Sunday had very much the feel of a play-off semi-final first leg between Norwich City and Leeds, with neither side wanting to commit too much to a win, knowing that losing would be a huge setback.

It’s shaping up well for the second leg this Thursday as the Canaries head to West Yorkshire and Elland Road.

Jonathan Rowe shares his verdict on the atmosphere at Elland Road

Norwich star Jonathan Rowe had a quiet outing against Leeds on Sunday but is apparently looking forward to playing at Elland Road.

This is because his experiences on the pitch have been second to none, he claims, even though his two outings on the LS11 ended in narrow defeats – 1-0 at the start of 2024 and the dramatic 2-1 win for Leeds in March 2022.

Speaking to Pink Un ahead of Thursday, he said:

“The three (Anfield, Elland Road and Old Trafford) are probably the main ones that stood out to me. Anfield is Anfield, it was a fortress and has been for the last few years. That club has a lot of weight and Old Trafford was just huge.

“Elland Road had the most noise I can remember. That I was a crazy game. Even though we lost, I was just in awe of the atmosphere.”

Who will win the playoffs?

Leeds hope to recreate the scenes from 2022 in Norwich this week

When Joe Gelhardt came on at the back post in the closing moments of that game against Norwich for 2-1, Elland Road erupted in a noise you rarely see from any club.

The celebrations in that game were memorable to the point where you can see why Rowe etched them into his memory.

Noise of this magnitude is something that wouldn’t happen at any other ground in this country and we need that this week.

Hopefully it’s a slightly simpler result than that if we get to Wembley.
