Man who allegedly stole vehicle tried to elude Colorado Springs police arrested | Crime and Justice

The Colorado Springs Police Department arrested a man Monday night on multiple charges after he allegedly stole a vehicle and attempted to flee.

At approximately 6 p.m., officers from the Falcon Division were dispatched to the area of ​​Nevada Avenue and Fillmore Street for a report of a person passed out in a vehicle. Law enforcement officers learned that the car had been reported stolen.

Before officers made contact, the driver, Michael Andrew Lambeth, 27, moved the allegedly stolen vehicle into a commercial parking lot in the 300 block of East Fillmore Street.

Patrol officers and officers from the K-9, Tactical and Drone Units set up a cordon to make contact with Lambeth. All occupants of the business were secured inside before any action was taken by law enforcement.

Upon contact, Lambeth attempted to flee in the car. According to police, less lethal weapons were deployed, which led to Lambeth’s arrest.

Lambeth was booked into the El Paso County Jail on a felony warrant and charged with motor vehicle theft, eluding, criminal mischief, drug possession, obstruction and resisting arrest.
