Birmingham mum shares horrifying moment cat mauled by dogs in driveway

This is the horrifying moment a ‘beautiful’ cat was mauled by two dogs in a city lane. Mog was seen relaxing before two large dogs, a suspected XL Bully and a Pitbull, ran around the corner and dragged him to the ground.

The injured animal escaped and survived the vicious attack, but the Rubery family, who took him in as a stray, now face a £3,000 vet bill. They launched a GoFundMe to help cover costs following the July 20 ordeal.

Mum Sarah Hewson said they had no idea why their cat disappeared and wouldn’t return for food until they saw the shocking CCTV footage above. Agreeing to share the clip, she said she wanted to let people know what happened because it could easily have been her nephew in the car at the time.

Mrs Hewson said: “I have a young grandson and I hate to think what might have happened if he had been there instead of Mog. What the dogs did is absolutely horrific.

“A lot of people around here have XL thugs, but they’re responsible for muzzleing them and recording them.” Mog came into the family as a stray and has been part of their lives for eight years because his owner could not be traced, meaning the Hewsons will be responsible for his vet bills.

Of the incident, the mother-of-three recalled: ‘He was at the back door waiting to be fed so I fed him and he went around the back garden and into the lane. Obviously, when all this. it happened that we were not aware of anything.

“So from the CCTV, he stood in the driveway and a lady, a dog on a lead and a dog on a lead came. And the way the dog went around the wall, he didn’t stand a chance.
