Manchester United new signing Joshua Zirkzee has already tried to convince Jamal Musiala to join

Joshua Zirkzee has revealed his attempts to convince Jamal Musiala to join him at Manchester United.

Zirkzee recently completed a £36m move to Old Trafford from Bologna to become the Premier League giants’ first summer signing.

He joins after previously being at German giants Bayern Munich, for whom he played alongside midfield sensation Musiala.

The 21-year-old is regarded as one of the best young talents in European football and would be a dream signing for any club.

So much so that an ambitious fan in a social media video asked Zirkzee if he could help him with a move, and his response suggests he’d be keen too.

“Can you tell Musiala to join United?” they asked as their shirt was being signed by Zirkzee, who smiled and replied, “I tried, I tried.”

A former member of Chelsea’s academy, Musiala joined Bayern’s youth set-up in 2019 and made his senior debut the following year.

The attacking midfielder made a total of 163 appearances for the club, scoring 43 goals and assisting a further 31 in all competitions.

Musiala has four Bundesliga titles, one Champions League, three DFL-Supercups, one Supercup and one Club World Cup to his name, as well as 34 caps for Germany.

His current contract at Bayern expires in 2026 and a previous report suggested he had rejected offers for a new deal.

However, there seems to be little speculation about a potential exit this summer, so Zirkzee may have to wait a little longer before trying to reunite with Musiala.

United fans are yet to see the forward in action but will be hoping he can bring his attacking quality to the Premier League in the new season.

Zirkzee scored 14 goals for Bologna in two seasons, 12 of which came in the previous campaign along with seven assists.

He is set to give competition to Rasmus Hojlund for a starting place at United following the departure of Anthony Martial.

The 23-year-old represented the Netherlands at Euro 2024 but was not included in Erik ten Hag’s squad for United’s pre-season tour of the United States.

Zirkzee instead trained at their base in Carrington and could make his Community Shield debut against Manchester City on 10 August.

Before that, United will face Real Betis and Liverpool in their final two pre-season friendlies.
