LIVE Queues are forming as all traffic came to a standstill on the Manchester Freeway following the vehicle fire

All traffic is stopped on the M60 this afternoon following reports of a vehicle fire.

Queues are forming on the M60 clockwise at J3 A34 Kingsway as emergency services rush to the incident. It is not yet clear if anyone was injured.




Motorists are currently experiencing delays as traffic is at a standstill due to the fire on the exit ramp.

Statement from the fire department

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “At around 1.40pm today (Tuesday 30 July), three fire engines from Stockport, Cheadle and Wythenshawe fire stations were called to to reports that a car had been set on fire on the M60 slip road between junctions two and three.

“Firefighters used a hose reel to extinguish the fire and secure the site. Crews were in attendance for approximately 35 minutes.”

Traffic was stopped for 15 minutes

The latest update from live traffic service Inrix says: “M60 exit clockwise closed, traffic backed up due to vehicle fire at J3 A34 Kingsway.

“Traffic was backed up on lanes of the freeway for approximately fifteen minutes due to the vehicle fire on the exit ramp.”
