Tottenham vs Man City LIVE: Premier League result, score and reaction as Haaland goals send City top

I’d rather be in the Champions League than resting – Guardiola

Tottenham Hotspur host Manchester City in a fascinating clash that could decide where the Premier League title ends up this season.

Man City, who are aiming to win the league for the fourth year in a row, entered second in the table just one point behind Arsenal. This game is their game in hand and if they triumph they will take a two point lead into the final weekend of the season. A draw tonight would mean City must overturn a three-goal deficit and match Arsenal’s result on Sunday, while a defeat would leave the Gunners in control of the title race.

For Spurs, their target is the top four. Aston Villa failed to beat Liverpool last night, meaning there is still a chance Tottenham can pip them into the final Champions League qualification spot. Spurs are four/five points behind Villa so need to beat Man City to have any hope of finishing fourth.

The inevitability of Haaland means that the title ending has a very familiar feel

A formality in the strangest settings. Within seconds of Erling Haaland scoring the goal that won this game and possibly the Premier League title, you could feel the tension evaporate. And that wasn’t from the opposite end. It was the whole stadium as Tottenham Hotspur fans immediately started singing about the parade.

This was followed by a corner of the stadium doing the Manchester City fan dance to “Poznan” and more than just standing because they “hate Arsenal”. Finally, it was “Are you watching, Arsenal?”

Until then, there would be a nervous energy about the occasion. Spurs supporters had almost been eagerly going through the motions of supporting their team. There was anticipation when they broke and jeers when Ruben Dias mishandled the ball offside, but he didn’t feel the full voice.

That changed in the moment of the goal. It changed again when Son Heung-Min crossed to make it 1-0. Somehow, a player who is statistically the best finisher in the Premier League failed to take his chance. Sub-keeper Stefan Ortega has claimed his own place in the city’s folklore. Arsenal could make similar jokes about Tottenham. It was so weird. So the Premier League has yet another type of story to add to its archive of stories, although this different type of occasion will almost certainly result in the same champions. This 2-0 win means City have it in their hands until the final day and any win over West Ham United will do.

Arsenal need a miracle, although they would have said the same about this game. You could certainly say that about the son’s disappearance.

“We know it hasn’t been done, it will be hard, but if we do it, we can change history,” says Rodri after that victory. He also had praise for Ortega and Haaland for their impact at each end.

There’s the whistle and so much is settled straight away – Aston Villa will finish fourth, Tottenham Hotspur won’t.

Above them, Manchester City will start the final weekend of the season two points clear of Arsenal in the Premier League title chase.

Win at home to West Ham and they have four titles in a row.

90+10′ – Tottenham 0-2 Man City

Silva carded for the foul on Kulusevski. City replaced Haaland with Alvarez a moment ago. Walker walks over and gives Ortega a massive high-five. It’s fine during downtime and it’s all over.

City quickly looked a lot more confident and a lot more relaxed after that second goal, passing it around and not letting Spurs get anywhere near the ball.

It could all have been very different if Son had buried the one-on-one against Ortega just before the penalty.

Mikey Moore makes his debut at the age of 16 for Spurs, replacing Maddison.

Spurs fans are finally starting to sing for their own team – they’ve been quiet all night unless they’re chanting against Arsenal. A little late for that now, really.

DO IT! 90′ – Tottenham 0-2 Man City

Absolutely belted in Erling Haaland! Left footed, thrown into the corner, Vicario goes the other way and it’s two on the night, three points, first place.

City will be on top tonight heading into the final day of the season.

Ten minutes have been added, but it probably doesn’t matter anymore.

PENALTY – 89′ – Tottenham 0-1 Man City

Foden booked for a very poor tackle that didn’t get close to the ball on Maddison.

The 90 minutes are almost over but added time could be irrelevant – Doku goes over Porro in the area, the right back sticks a leg out and it’s a penalty for Man City!

Sarr and Hojbjerg dropped out, Lo Celso and Skipp came on as a late double substitution for Spurs.

More about midfield energy and a bit more creativity than actual attack, it seems for Ange Postecoglou. His side don’t have much time to score – but Son now has a magnificent chance, when Akanji is caught, the Spurs captain crosses suddenly… and his one-on-one shot is very poor! Crashed along the ground and saved by Ortega’s outstretched leg!

What a chance – what a moment in the title race. Arsenal would have prayed for that Spurs goal for once.

82′ – Tottenham 0-1 Man City

Another spotter for Kulusevski as he runs into the box, holds the defender and holds up a shot – it’s easily blocked and perhaps having done well the Swede should have pulled it back instead of taking it from a narrow angle. Foden then tries to release Haaland in space, but can’t find the right angle either.

Sarr sees a shot blocked as the tempo of the game finally picks up and it starts to be a bit end-to-end, but Spurs still lack presence in the penalty box.
