Two back from injury as Mark Robins names pre-season squad to face Everton at CBS Arena

After coming agonizingly close in 2023 and falling just short in 2024, it is anticipated that Coventry City may be third time lucky with a successful promotion in 2025.

Back-to-back trips to Wembley for the Championship play-off final and an FA Cup semi-final suggest something special is happening with the Sky Blues – a club who have been on an upward curve at the pitch for the past seven years under manager Mark Robins.

The arrival of new owner Doug King has also brought stability and investment to the club’s infrastructure, with a major refurbishment of the club’s Ryton training ground transforming what was a tired facility into an elite complex.

Throw in a new-look squad made up of high-profile sales last summer and added again in the current transfer window, and fans will be able to see the makings of a squad equipped to go one better this time around.

Five players have been added so far, with a bit of wing wizardry in the form of Ephron Mason-Clark from Peterborough United and Raphael Borges Rodrigues from Macarthur FC of the Australian A-League, signing Luis Binks on a permanent basis. deal from Bologna and the exciting attacking addition of Jack Rudoni from Huddersfield – a dynamic midfielder who can operate as a box-to-box eight or goal-scoring 10 supplying the forwards.

Swedish goalkeeper Oliver Dovin has also joined from Hammarby and is certainly not far behind Matty Godden as a replacement leader.

Success won’t come easily, of course, in a highly competitive division, with Burnley, Luton and Sheffield United parachuted from the Prem and looking for a quick comeback, while the likes of Leeds and Norwich will once again be among the favorites for to return to the top table of English football.
