A Wiltshire man has been jailed for 28 months for child sex offenses – after he sent sexual messages to what he thought was a 12-year-old girl on a social media platform.

Alan Wiltshire, aged 6\5, from Devizes, was sentenced at Winchester Crown Court after pleading guilty to attempting to engage in sexual intercourse with a child, attempting to induce a child to engage in sexual activity and breached his sexual harm prevention order.

Wiltshire previously admitted three counts of making indecent images of children and was sentenced by Salisbury magistrates on April 14 to 17 weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months and subject to the Sex Offenders’ Register and Sexual Harm Prevention Order for 5 years.

The most recent offense put him in breach of a suspended prison sentence.

Wiltshire was sentenced to 14 months for soliciting sexual activity, 7 months (to run concurrently) for sexual messages, 12 months (to run consecutively) for breaching his sexual harm prevention order and two months (to run consecutively ) for violating the suspended sentence. Order.

He was also issued with a new 10-year sexual assault prevention order.

Detective Constable Sarah Greenman said:

“Wiltshire has been given the opportunity to rehabilitate within the community, however his escalating offending has shown he is either unable or unwilling to control his behavior – by sending sexually explicit messages to the online profile of a 12-year-old girl years. .

“We hope this custodial sentence not only acts as a deterrent to prevent re-offending in Wiltshire, but also sends a strong message to other potential offenders.
