Live: Bristol ‘luxury’ flats evacuated as roof collapses

Dozens of flats were evacuated this evening after the roof of an iconic building collapsed in Bristol. Dozens of people living in the Old Shoe Factory in Portland Square, St Pauls, have been forced to flee their homes. We’ll keep you updated with our live blog below.


Resident Ed Fraser said: “At 6.40pm this evening the ceiling of my block collapsed. 38 apartments were evacuated, including mine. All blue lights and local councilor present”.



BristolLive understands no one was injured. It is not clear whether or not people will be able to return to their homes tonight or how they are being cared for in the meantime.
