WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Washington is to give Israel $3.5 billion to spend on U.S. weapons and military equipment, releasing the money months after it was appropriated by the U.S. Congress, CNN reported on Friday, citing sources familiar with the matter.

The State Department told lawmakers Thursday night that the government plans to release billions of dollars in foreign military funding to Israel, CNN reported, adding that the money comes from the $14.1 billion supplemental funding bill for Israel, adopted in April.
