What are the hand baggage handling rules at Birmingham Airport?

Traveling abroad via Birmingham Airport soon? If you’ve heard about the new security technology that UK airports are starting to use, you might be wondering about the current liquid rules.

The government initially required all UK airports to have the new scanning technology in place from 1 June 2024, however it has announced that it has granted extensions to several major UK airports that were unable to meet the deadline to fully install the technology.

The new scanners produce more detailed images, meaning passengers can be let through airport security with containers containing up to two liters of liquid in their hand luggage.

They will also mean that laptops and tablets won’t have to be taken out of hand luggage.
