The Old Crown in Aldermans Green was named best country pub. The pub offers home-style pub food in a “down-to-earth” and “old-school” setting with an outdoor beer garden. The menu includes pizzas, pastas, burgers, grills, pies and Sunday lunch from 12pm to 6pm.

Main courses include Chicken Kiev, Game Chicken, Juicy Pork Belly, Tandoori Chicken Skewers, Cod and Chips, Ultimate Tikka Fries, Steak and Guinness Pie and more. The restaurant has a 4.6 star rating on Google reviews, with one saying it’s a “classic pub” that offers “crazy good” home-cooked food.

Jon Payne said: “Definitely one of those hidden gems when it comes to food. I didn’t know he made food until I was invited by a friend. The Sunday roast is absolutely packed, so you know how good it is by that. Mixed Grill is a banger and their pies are good, overall a very good pub.

Andrew Preece added: “This place is immaculate, both inside and out. The serving staff were a delight to interact with. The food is superb. We were a party of four, we each had a different main meal and dessert. Every dish was brilliant. I can’t thank the owners and staff enough.”
