Monster storm warning as Coventry braces for heavy rain

Parts of the UK will be hit by violent storms. New weather maps from forecasters at InMeto say they will reach from Surrey to Pembrokeshire and as far east as Canterbury, Kent. tomorrow (May 16).

There will also be heavy rain showers and we here in the Midlands won’t be immune to that, the Mirror reports. According to the latest online forecast from the Met Office, our area will wake up to cloudy weather and showers, “some heavy”.

The chance of heavy showers continues into Friday and into the weekend. But the “changeable” weather will also bring sunshine, which the Met Office says will be “warm”, with temperatures close to average for May.

The latest local forecasts from the Met Office for our area over the weekend are as follows:

Today

Any low cloud breaking then a mix of bright or sunny spells and scattered showers, perhaps with longer spells of rain in the east at times. Warm in any sun with light winds. Maximum temperature 20C.

This evening

Mostly dry this evening and overnight, although fairly cloudy with a chance of patchy rain in the far north and east. A few clear spells and another gentle night. Minimum temperature 10C.

Thursday

Any cloud clearing in the morning leaving plenty of sunny spells and a scattering of showers, which can become heavy. Feeling hot during sunnier periods with light winds. Maximum temperature 19C.

Outlook for Friday through Sunday

Interchangeable with sunny spells and scattered showers. Showers can be heavy at times. It’s still warm where you catch the sun, though with temperatures generally close to average.
