Several people have been injured after fights broke out in a Bristol pub

An “alarming” fight that broke out in a South Bristol pub involved a “large” group of people and resulted in a number of injuries, police said. The violent disorder broke out at The Rising Sun pub, opposite Greville Smyth Park, at around 9pm on Saturday 11 May.

Avon and Somerset Police said a “significant number” of people were involved in the incident and several people were punched and kicked during the fight. The force was called to the scene but said by the time officers arrived many of those involved had already left.



A 24-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of affray occasioning actual bodily harm and possession of cocaine. He has since been released on bail pending further inquiries.

Investigating officers are examining CCTV footage from the pub and the surrounding area in a bid to identify everyone involved. Avon and Somerset Police are also appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

Investigating officer PC Rosie Patterson said: “This was an alarming incident involving a large number of people arguing in a pub. Several people were assaulted and injured, although it is not known exactly how many people were injured.

“Incidents of this nature are completely unacceptable and it is important that we identify those responsible. If you saw what happened or have any information about it, please get in touch.”
