The US Transportation Safety Board is opening an investigation into the Tesla crash in California

The US National Transportation Safety Board has opened an investigation into a crash and fire involving a Tesla electric semi truck on a California highway, the agency announced late Wednesday.

The NTSB will conduct the safety investigation along with the authority of the California Highway Patrol, said in a post on the X social media platform.

The electric vehicle (EV) the manufacturer and the California Highway Patrol did not immediately respond to Reuters requests for comment.

An electric Tesla semi truck crashed near Emigrant’s Head in northern California late Monday night after his engine caught fire, the closure of highway for more than half a day, local media said, adding that no injuries were reported.

Auto experts say electric vehicle fires burn differently than those in cars with internal combustion engines, often lasting longer and i am harder to put out because they tend to re-ignite.
