GM’s Cruise to deploy its autonomous vehicles on Uber’s platform By Reuters

(Reuters) – Cruise, backed by Uber and General Motors, said on Thursday that Cruise will deploy its self-driving vehicles on the ride-hailing company’s platform as part of a multi-year deal.

The partnership, which will launch next year, will allow Uber (NYSE: ) riders to choose a ride using an autonomous Cruise vehicle.

GM shares rose more than 1 percent in extended trading, while Uber fell 3 percent.

Cruise has agreed to recall nearly 1,200 robot axes due to hard braking problems, US auto safety regulator NHTSA said earlier in the day, following an investigation into the safety of their self-driving systems .
