This army has more tanks than other armies have troops

In February 2022, Russia officially invaded Ukraine – and the war has been going on ever since. However, in recent months, the situation seems to have changed. In fact, Ukraine recently invaded Russia’s Kursk region, highlighting a surge in power and support from other global leaders. Tanks are believed to play an important role in Ukraine’s growing force. The British donated a number of Challenger 2 tanks to Ukrainian forces, allowing Ukraine to capture the Russian city of Sudzha. If more tanks and other equipment were donated to Ukraine, it could cause problems for Russia – even though Russia, as you will see on this list, has by far the most tanks of any military. (Here’s what actually led to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.)

Tanks are an armored vehicle that began to be developed during World War II. Initially, tanks were designed to break through enemy lines and join in special combat situations. Today, tanks have become an integral part of many global armies, and for good reason. Tanks can operate in various weather and terrain conditions, provide direct fire support, and are incredibly rugged, which means they are great for defense. (These 30 tanks are the most mass-produced since the end of World War II.)

To determine which countries on the globe have the most tanks, 24/7 Wall St. analyzed data from Military Power ranking from Global Firepower, an annually updated defense statistics website with information on 145 countries. We ranked the countries by total number of tanks, starting with the smallest amount. In addition, we have included information on the total amount of military vehicles, artillery and MLRS units, as well as each country’s military strength score. 0.000 would be the perfect military power score, but this is unachievable. But the closer a nation’s military strength score is to 0.0000, the more conventionally powerful that country is considered to be.

Despite the strong US advantage around the globe in terms of military power, America did not rank first, second or even third on the list for the number of tanks (although it did make the top 5). American military power is based mainly on its air and naval forces and less on land forces. However, when the need for ground troops arises, the US has the tank power to support them. Interestingly, North Korea is near the top of the pack, lead USA and many other nations. However, it should be noticed its arsenal is full of old tanks, many from the 1950s and 1960s left over from the Korean War, which lack the firepower and capability of more modern tanks.

Why are we writing about military tanks?

The US may not rely on land tanks as much now as in the past, but they still play a role important role in national defense. Understanding how the various militaries around the globe work helps 24/7 Wall St readers. to gain insight into the use of military power around the world.
