Knife suspect charged after Aston ‘street fight’

A man has been charged after disorder erupted into a knife attack on a city street, police said. Two people were injured after the alleged incident in Aston last month.

West Midlands Police said the disturbance broke out on Hampton Road at 5.45pm on April 14. One man, aged in his 30s, suffered a slash wound and a second man, aged in his 40s, suffered a knife wound to his hand. Both men were taken to hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening. The force later impounded a vehicle and recovered a large quantity of live ammunition, ketamine and cannabis.




The force said Abdul Wahab Suffri, 29, faces charges of wounding with intent, possession of a knife in a public place and possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear or violence. He is also charged with possession with intent to supply ketamine and cannabis, Class B controlled drugs. He is due to appear at Birmingham Magistrates’ Court for an initial hearing today, Thursday 16 May.
