Dick’s Sporting Goods reports unauthorized access to information systems

Dick’s Sporting Goods said Wednesday it discovered unauthorized access to its information systems.

In a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Dick’s said it discovered the cyberattack on Aug. 21 and immediately “activated its cybersecurity response plan and engaged with its external cybersecurity experts to to investigate, isolate and contain the threat”.

Federal authorities have also been notified, Dick’s said, adding that it does not know if the incident has disrupted business operations, but believes the incident is not material. Certain confidential information was accessed, the sporting goods retailer said.

The incident remains under investigation, Dick said.
