The father of a six-year-old boy who died after falling more than 150 meters from an east London tower block could be heard screaming “my boy is dead”.

It also emerged that the child’s mother had written to the council on several occasions regarding the safety of the flat’s windows and doors.

The boy, named locally as Alam Makial, fell from a window on the 15th floor of Jacobs House on New City Road this morning.

Police said they were called to reports of a child falling from a height shortly before 6am.

The child’s aunt, Maryam Hadafow, paid tribute to the “lovely, lovely boy” whom she described as “very sweet”.

She told MailOnline: ‘He had got up before his parents and fell from the kitchen window.

“His mother wrote emails about windows and doors to the council five times and said, ‘This is not safe for my children.’

“Akam’s father screamed for help shouting ‘My son, my son is dead.’

A neighbor told the Evening Standard: “I spoke to the mum a few weeks ago and I saw her and her son in the lift with her boy, he was lovely. Today he could barely speak.”

A 28-year-old mother-of-two told the newspaper: “We are in complete shock.

A neighbor who lived on the same floor as the family told LBC she spoke to the boy’s aunt this morning, who told her he had fallen from a kitchen window.

She said that inside the apartment, the family had a table in front of the window and the window itself was broken.

She said the boy was “He was happy, smiling, energetic – he greeted me every morning.”

Scotland Yard said in a statement: “We were called at 5.58am on Thursday 16 May to reports that a child had fallen from a height on New City Road, E13.

“Officers, London Fire Brigade, London Ambulance Service and London Air Ambulance attended.

“At the scene, a six-year-old boy fell from an upper floor of a block of flats.

“Despite the best efforts of the emergency services, he unfortunately died at the scene. His family is aware and is being supported.”

A London Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We were called at 5.59am today to reports of a person who had fallen from a height on New City Road, Plaistow.

“We sent resources to the scene including ambulance crews, a paramedic in a rapid response car and an incident response officer. We also sent a trauma team in a car from the London Air Ambulance.

“Our first paramedics were on the scene in about four minutes.

“Very sad, a child was pronounced dead at the scene.”

Newham Council said: “We are deeply sorry to hear of this devastating incident, our sincere condolences to all those affected.

“We have staff on site to provide reassurance to residents at this difficult time while we work with partners to establish all the facts.”
