US All other lines DPW up 4.3%

OLDWICK, NJ //BestWire// – Direct written premiums for all other lines in the US will grow 4.3% in 2023 to $117.53 billion, according to a new Best’s Rankings report.

Three of the top 10 writers moved up one position in the rankings, swapping places with a competitor.

Premiums fell 3.5% to $6.7 billion at Liberty Mutual Insurance Cos no. 1. Also down were two other top 10 biggest writers – CNA Insurance Cos. and American International Group.

Travelers Group overtook Chubb INA Group to become the second biggest writer after direct written premiums increased 3.5% to $5.48 billion.

Zurich Insurance US PC Group grew DPW by 7.7% to $4.77 million, displacing CNA to become #4.

Hartford Insurance Group moved into No. 6 above AIG after DPW rose 3.8% to $4.29 billion.

The report includes the change in DPW from the prior year, three-year adjusted market share and loss rates, and the percentage of first company underwritten for the line.
