Once launched, the Royal Enfield Classic 650 Twin will have no direct competition except the much more expensive Kawasaki Z650RS.

Royal Enfield has established itself as one of the most popular classic motorcycle manufacturers in the world and has expanded its stable to include motorcycles from various segments. Among the many future bikes planned for release is the classic-themed 650.

We have seen numerous test rags from Royal Enfield and the latest to be spied close to production were the Guerilla 450 and the Classic 650. As the name suggests, this bike will be the 650cc version of the Classic 350. Chennai The manufacturer may have finalized the name Classic 650 Twin as it was the trademark.

Now, both the 350 and 650 use the word Classic in their name, so Royal Enfield wants to establish a distinction in its model naming scheme, and this does a better job. This is something similar to what the company did with the Super Meteor 650, as both the 350 and 650 had the word Meteor, and the 650cc bike had to be distinguished by ‘Super’ and ‘650’ in its name.

Based on the leaked documents, you can see that the Word Mark is Royal Enfield Classic 650 Twin and the filing was made earlier this month on 9/5/2024. It has been filed under Royal Enfield’s parent company Eicher Motors Limited and the status of the application is ‘Formalities Chk Pass’.

Test mules of the Royal Enfield Classic 650 Twin have already been spied many times now. Testing of the bike is in full swing and we believe it will have a launch date of 2024. In terms of design, it is similar to its 350 counterpart, the Classic 350, but looks proportionally improved to match the larger frame. The dual pea style exhaust is finished in chrome for that classic look. The overall design and build quality looks pretty good.

Talking about the frame, it is based on the newer platform of the Super Meteor 650 and not the platform of the Interceptor 650. This chassis is also shared with the newly launched Shotgun 650. However, we believe that the Classic 650 Twin will not be as feature-rich like the Super Meteor 650 and the Shotgun 650. This means that when it comes to pricing, the Classic 650 Twin could be positioned between the Interceptor 650 and the Super Meteor 650.

On that note, if we check out the rest of the hardware, we see conventional RSU telescopic front forks along with a conventional dual rear shock setup. The Classic 650 Twin will borrow the same taillight assembly from the Classic 350, instead of the more expensive 650s. It will get LED headlights, and we couldn’t find any of the test cars with the Tripper navigation display, which means it might not make it to the production model.

The heart of the Classic 650 Twin will be the same 648cc oil-cooled parallel twin engine from the other 650cc models on the market, and output of 47PS and 52Nm of torque are expected to remain the same. It will get a slipper clutch and assist with a 6-speed gearbox.
