LIVE: Man dies after ‘hit by HGV’ as emergency services cordon off main road – latest updates

A person has died after being hit by a HGV along Cromwell Road this afternoon, it is understood.

A large cordon remains in place with dignity screens erected at the site at the junction with Langley Road South.

MEN understands the person, whose age and gender have not been confirmed, was hit by the truck at around 4pm.

Police, paramedics and fire crews remained at the scene as the road is blocked in both directions. A private ambulance also arrived at the scene at around 19.30.

The Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) is currently leading the investigation.

Greater Manchester Police are yet to provide a full comment on the incident.
