Leicester City, Middlesbrough and Luton Town are eyeing Michael Baidoo

Leicester City and Middlesbrough are keen on Elfsborg midfielder Michael Baidoo, according to a report from Fotbolldirekt.

Leicester City and Middlesbrough could try to land the former Ghana youth international this summer ahead of next season. Hull City and Luton Town have also been mentioned as potential suitors with the upcoming transfer window on the horizon.

Baidoo, 25, has been a key player for Elfsborg since joining them in 2022 and could well face a battle to keep hold of him over the next couple of months amid interest from other part. His contract expires in June 2025, meaning they are under no pressure to cash him in until now unless the right offer comes along.

According to Fotbolldirekt, he has attracted the attention of Championship clubs as well as unnamed teams from America, Holland, Belgium and Germany, with the situation up in the air at the moment.

Who is this?

THE QUIZ STARTS!

Baidoo began his career in his native Ghana with a spell at Vision as a youngster before moving to Denmark to link up with Midtjylland Academy.

He rose through the ranks in the Danish Superliga and went on to play once for their first team as a teenager, as well as having loan spells at FC Fredericia and Jerv to gain some experience.

The latter subsequently took over permanently in 2020 and played for them and then Sandnes Ulf before joining the current team.

Baidoo has since made 65 appearances for Elfsborg in all competitions, contributing 17 goals and 11 assists.

Passionate English teams

Leicester City could see him as someone to strengthen their ranks after promotion to the Premier League.

The Foxes may not be able to give him that much playing time, although he could make a second-tier club due to competition for a place in their side.

Middlesbrough and Hull City will both be aiming to reach the top six again next year after both missing out on the play-offs this past campaign. The latter are looking for a new boss following their decision to part ways with Liam Rosenior.

As for Luton Town, they have been relegated from the top flight after just one year and have a big few months ahead as they look to strengthen their squad under Rob Edwards.
