Sheffield United are making an £8million move for the Celtic-linked goalkeeper

Sheffield United are preparing to make an £8million bid for Anthony Patterson as they look to secure the highly-rated goalkeeper. Celtic have been linked with the Sunderland stopper as they search for a replacement for Joe Hart.

According to The Sun, the relegated Blades will be looking to take on Sunderland’s No.1 as they prepare for life in the EFL Championship. Former Rangers goalkeeper Wes Fotheringham has failed to impress and Chris Wilder is looking for a new goalkeeper.

Patterson has four years on his contract and, as a former England U21, the goalkeeper could command a higher fee than Sheffield United are proposing. Celtic have been linked with the player as they hunt for a replacement for Hart, who will retire at the end of the campaign.

Hart’s signing from Tottenham in the summer of 2021 was a masterstroke and his experience, coupled with his quality, have made him a favorite at Paradise. Alex McCarthy has been linked with a move but the Southampton goalkeeper is no doubt preparing for his Championship semi-final second leg against West Brom before deciding his future.
