Lisandro Martinez is sending a message to Manchester United fans, he is on a mission

Manchester United beat Newcastle this week with a much-maligned temporary centre-back partnership.

No one was excited by the prospect of seeing Casemiro and Jonny Evans back again, but this time it was enough to earn a rare three points for Manchester United.

Sofyan Amrabat’s excellent defensive display was a big part of that, while Casemiro also acquitted himself very well after heavy recent criticism.

Late in the game there was a welcome boost as Lisandro Martinez returned to action.

Message from Lisandro Martinez

Lisandro Martinez came on in the 83rd minute of the 3-2 win against Newcastle as part of a double substitution, alongside Marcus Rashford for Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho.

He helped United see the three points. United had won just one game during the most recent spell he was out.

Martinez had a message for supporters and is on a mission. The defender is absolutely determined to help the team win their final two games of 2023/24.

United face Brighton on the final day of the Premier League season ahead of their FA Cup final against Manchester City.

He said: “An honor to go back in time to play in front of you at Old Trafford 🫡 I have two more battles to go and we keep working!”

The last comeback of Lisandro Martinez

Lisandro Martinez has had an unfortunate injury record over the past 12 months, which began with an injury picked up against Sevilla.

The Argentina international centre-back actually wanted to make his return a game earlier against Arsenal, but manager Erik ten Hag did not want to rush him back.

Martinez appeared to return too quickly from his previous MCL issue, which led to a more recent calf injury.

United’s dressing room is a quieter place without him and getting him back in time for the cup final is crucial, especially after missing last season.
