Carnival passengers claim the key advantage offered by other cruise lines

Each cruise line handles embarkation day (the day you first board the ship) differently. This is true even for brands under the same corporate ownership.

How each cruise line handles baggage and cabin access is a point of contention for many passengers. Each company offers the option to check your bags and deliver them to your room.

Many people opt for this but are still stuck with a rather bulky carry-on. That’s because if you check your bags, they may not arrive until late afternoon or even early evening.

Many people pack a carry-on with essentials such as toiletries and medicine, along with a bathing suit and/or a change of clothes. Some people, of course, don’t want to hand over their luggage to the cruise line, so they choose to carry it aboard the ship themselves.

Depending on the cruise line, this may mean keeping your bags or luggage with you until 1 or 1:30 p.m. Royal Caribbean and Carnival name brands only allow certain passengers access to their cabins before opening. Most passengers have to keep their luggage with them, which creates a cumbersome situation on the already crowded elevators and in the cafeteria.

Celebrity Cruises, a Royal Caribbean brand, allows all passengers to leave their luggage in the cabin. The cruise line requires passengers to go to the cabin, drop off their luggage, and then leave so the room attendant can finish their work.

This is a privilege that many Carnival customers would like to see extended to all passengers.

The carnival passengers asked a question

Carnival Cruise Line currently allows certain passengers to leave their bags in cabins before they are fully opened.

“Carnival’s Priority Check-in is an exclusive service designed to provide our VIFP Diamond, Platinum and Deluxe Suite guests with special embarkation and disembarkation privileges on US and European cruises. Priority check-in is not offered on Carnival Journeys cruises. Minors Traveling with parents who have priority check-in in separate cabins can check-in together using this exclusive service,” the cruise company said on its website.

The cruise line’s brand ambassador, John Heald, can’t seem to understand why passengers want to board and immediately go to their cabins.

“Why do people want their cabins ready as soon as they get on the ship? Is it so they can unpack or go to bed or use the bathroom or all of the above?” he asked on his Facebook page.

Heald overlooks the idea that people may simply not want to be weighed down by luggage or carry-on luggage. Passport holders must keep their passports or other necessary documents on their person for check-in and many like to keep them in a safe location.

“There’s certainly so much to see on embarkation day. You get on board the ship, don’t you want to go get something to eat or have a cocktail or go out and explore? Talk, please,” he added.

The carnival passengers back off

Most passengers stated that leaving their luggage is the main reason why they want early access to their cabins.

“So I can put things away like my C-pap machine and not have to worry about pulling it in my arms,” said Richard King.

Variations of it accounted for hundreds, perhaps thousands, of the more than 3,300 comments on Heald’s post.

“I don’t think people necessarily want the cabin ready as much as they just want to leave their carry-on. It’s very difficult to get those bags around the buffet lines and onto the crowded and chaotic Lido deck. bags is a benefit we enjoy on other ships,” added Terri Whitaker.

Some passengers would like to be able to occupy their rooms earlier.

“I’m not happy about the huge crowd stuck on the Lido deck. When boarding and disembarking, everyone is crammed into a few areas, so it’s almost impossible to move or relax. During the cruise, people are more spread out. and relax don’t party, so if I could walk into my cabin and walk right out on the balcony, I’d be the happiest,” Amanda Comer said.

In other cases, people just want a quick chance to freshen up after a long morning of travel.

“We want to leave the luggage mainly, but I also want to freshen up, brush my teeth and hair, etc. I change clothes, possibly if it’s warmer than I thought it would be. Plus, if I’m travel-weary, I might want to relax a bit before heading out to explore,” posted Teresa Oliver Gilbert.
