Detective Superintendent Figo Forouzan, who is leading the investigation, said: “These charges came as a result of diligent police work by officers gathering evidence, providing support and reassurance to those affected.”

Chief Superintendent Sean Wilson, in charge of policing in the west, which covers Hammersmith, added: “Officers worked incredibly hard with the Crown Prosecution Service and the communities in both the boroughs of Ealing and Hammersmith and Fulham to secure an arrest and a charge in this case. .

“This demonstrates how seriously we take allegations of hate crime against any of our communities. While criminal proceedings are now active, I ask the community not to speculate on this case, particularly on social media, to avoid any risk of harm.”
