Coventry faces 22C heatwave as Britain prepares for several days of hot weather

Coventry and Warwickshire will be hit by a mini heatwave peaking with 22C temperatures, forecasts say. According to the latest Met Office online forecast for our area, Saturday (May 11) is set to be the warmest day of the week.

But in the run up to it, we are going to see warm temperatures with 20C tomorrow (May 8). This is set to rise to 21C on Thursday and into Friday before 22C on Saturday.

Today (May 7), should be the last day we see rain showers for a while. The forecast says there is an ‘odd possible shower’ this afternoon.

It comes as a heatwave means UK temperatures could “exceed 25C” for “several days” this week, according to one forecast. Exacta Weather forecaster James Madden said “the first major warm spell of the year” is likely to be on the way this week.

“We will now see high pressure moving across our shores to deliver a largely warm, sunny, and almost on cue settled spell of weather for most and if not all parts of the country throughout next week,” he said.

“This will see temperatures exceeding the 20C mark quite widely from around Wednesday for a number of days, and these warm conditions will also extend into parts of the northern half of the country within this developing period too.”

The rest of the week is looking dry, sunny and warm in the Coventry area. The latest local forecast is as follows:

Today

Any mist and fog patches lifting this morning to leave a largely fine and dry day with some warm sunshine. The odd shower possible in the afternoon though fewer and less heavy than on Monday. Maximum temperature 19C.

Tonight

Dry this evening with plenty of late sunny spells. Staying dry overnight with some patches of mist, fog and low cloud developing by dawn. Minimum temperature 7 °C.

Wednesday

Low cloud, mist and fog soon clearing to leave another mostly dry day with bright spells of sunshine. Feeling warm with light winds. Maximum temperature 20C.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday

High pressure dominates for the rest of the week, bringing settled conditions and lots of dry weather. Feeling very warm with light winds. Mild overnight with fog patches possible.
