Sean Dyche Press Conference LIVE – Everton takeover and transfers, latest Arsenal decide title

Everton manager Sean Dyche will hold his final press conference of the season at 1.45pm today (Friday 17 May) ahead of his side’s final day trip to Premier League title rivals Arsenal.

The Blues will head to the Emirates Stadium under no pressure after a run of five wins and a draw in seven matches ensured their survival in emphatic fashion. Their opponents, Arsenal, however, have everything to play for.

Managed by former Everton hero Mikel Arteta, the second-placed Gunners know they must win on Sunday to have any chance of lifting the championship for the first time since 2004. They currently sit two points behind the leaders and water champions Manchester City. City host West Ham United on Sunday and will be favorites to become the first club to win four consecutive top-flight titles.

The Blues can’t finish higher than their current position of 15th, but even if they were to drop a place in the table, it would still represent an excellent season for Dyche, who has dealt with two separate points deductions and another host. – land problems.

The largest of these remains unresolved. And Dyche will no doubt be asked for the latest on the club’s ongoing takeover saga and his plans – if he can do anything – for the summer transfer window.

Joe Thomas and Chris Beesley will be at Finch Farm to bring you all the updates from the press conference.

What to expect today

I’m sure the VAR question will come up today, with news this week that Wolves have tabled a motion for clubs to vote on whether to drop it or not. I can predict Dyche’s answer right now. Having led the majority of post-match press conferences during the season, it’s fair to say the subject of VAR has come up a few times. Dyche IS a fan of in-game technology in principle, his problem is that it is used to re-arbitrate moments (a DCL red card at Palace or a Gomes foul for the DCL goal at Spurs) or when it takes ages to reach a decision. (disallowed goal Moreno in the home game for Villa). He also dislikes the inevitability of the referee overturning the decision once sent to the monitor, believing that if this always happens, the whole process can be shortened.

Just look how he’s fooling me now and saying he wants the VAR!

Sun on a crowded Finch farm

Hello everyone, Joe Thomas here at Finch Farm where Sean Dyche will be appearing before us at the scheduled time of 1.45pm. The sun is shining here on the edge of the Cheshire countryside where the training ground is a busy place at the moment. A fleet of ground staff mowed the main pitch, a squadron of six or seven walking the turf in full flight formation. The parking lot is full, which means we’re on a stretch of road where a reporter who shall remain nameless had a lot of trouble backing up without reversing into the grass next to her.

Welcome to Finch Farm

For Sean Dyche’s final press conference of the season ahead of Everton’s title-challenging final-day clash at Arsenal.
