Four police officers were injured while a man charged over a corrosive substance

A man was due in court today, Friday May 17, after four West Midlands Police officers were injured on a city street. Keegan Sullivan was charged with arson with intent to endanger life.

The 38-year-old man was also charged with four counts of throwing a corrosive substance at a person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. The officers were injured after responding to an incident at flats in Manby Road, Tyburn, in the early hours of yesterday, Thursday 16 May.



The officers have been released from the hospital to continue their recovery, police said. Sullivan was due to appear at Birmingham Magistrates’ Court today, May 17.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said: “A man will appear at Birmingham Magistrates’ Court today following an incident in Tyburn in which four officers were injured. Keegan Sullivan, 38, was charged with arson with intent to endanger life and four counts of dumping. a corrosive substance on a person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

“We were called to a block of flats on Manby Road at around 2.20am on Thursday 16 May. The officers have been released from hospital and continue to recover from their injuries.”
