Why Microsoft stock hit the market today

The company will definitely benefit from an early launch of an AI product.

Refreshing but still hot news in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) helped Microsoft (MSFT 2.09%) stock lands in positive territory on Tuesday. The tech giant’s share price improved more than 2% during the trading session on that news, which came from a private company in which it is heavily invested. By comparison, the S&P 500 the index could only manage a 0.5% gain on the day.

Is there a new OpenAI product coming?

On Tuesday, tech industry website The Information, citing two unidentified people who tested the goods, reported that OpenAI aims to release its latest product within the next two weeks. This product, called Strawberry, is a set of reasoning-focused artificial intelligence (AI) features developed by the renowned technology specialist.

OpenAI is the developer of ChatGPT, the very high-profile AI program that is an early flagship for the technology. Microsoft has committed to investing $13 billion in the still privately held business; with that, it is essentially considered by many to be a benefactor for OpenAI. Microsoft has ambitious plans to integrate AI functionality and services into most of its software products.

Neither Microsoft nor OpenAI have yet to comment on the report, which was widely circulated in tech media after publication.

The right company for the right time

Both OpenAI and Microsoft are eager and extremely ambitious, so The Information’s report is entirely plausible. If it turns out to be accurate, it will definitely be a plus for Microsoft, placing it on the cutting edge of advanced technology. The trick will be to hang in there; So far, it seems that OpenAI’s management has been quite effective in setting the pace in the great AI race.
