Leeds United thrashed Norwich City 4-0 on Thursday night to ensure they are one of two teams to face each other in this season’s play-off final.

Leeds fans headed to Elland Road on Thursday with equal parts nerves and excitement ahead of their play-off semi-final second leg against Norwich City.

With the scores tied at 0-0, Leeds knew they only needed to beat Norwich at home to secure their place at Wembley.

Leeds thrash Norwich 4-0 to set up Wembley clash

The perfect start came from Leeds in possession in the first half as Ilia Gruev scored a deep free-kick for 1-0 before the score quickly became 2-0 through Joel Piroe before a quarter of the time. In truth, he felt like the game had already been going on for hours at that point.

Josh Sargent’s split from Ethan Ampadu was a flash of the moment as Norwich broke out of their own half and Illan Meslier was up to the task as were his counterparts in the pitch, reaching out with a huge arm to deny the Canaries striker .

Georgi Rutter made it 3-0 and arguably just before half-time, Leeds killed off the tie on 40 minutes, before adding second-half gloss through Crysencio Summerville, turning home a Junior Firpo cutback after a good work willy. Gnonto, who had already scored Piroe with one of the best crosses you will see.

Lucas Radebe celebrates Leeds’ home win

He watched Leeds legend Lucas Radebe from afar in the hope of a huge result to take his former club to Wembley.

On Friday afternoon, Radebe shared a video of his in-game celebration as Leeds made it 2-0 through Piroe.

The former Leeds centre-back runs across the living room before his knee slides to the floor:

Radebe was all of us during that win at Leeds

Radebe and all the other former players who reacted to our triumph on Thursday show you how this club gets under your skin.

He hasn’t been here for nearly 20 years but he still loves the club and the feeling is mutual, great to see him enjoying himself last night.

Hopefully this result against the Canaries will set us off on a demolition job at Wembley and whoever wins tonight.
