The union reports that a cyber incident could expose members’ private information

A Ridgefield Park, New Jersey-based union for longline, nursing, maintenance and other workers has reported a cyber incident that may have exposed some members’ private information.

The Office of Local 1964, International Longshoremen’s Association, Local 1964 ILA Health & Insurance Fund and Local 1964 ILA Pension Fund stated that certain files stored on its network may have been accessed and purchased without authorization between March 27, 2024 and May 27, 2024 A review of those files, which was completed on September 3, determined that certain individuals’ information may have been compromised.

Potentially affected information may include individuals’ names, social security numbers, dates of birth, health information, and health insurance information and financial account numbers.

While it has no evidence that any information was misused, the union said it is informing affected people of steps they can take to protect their information. The union said it mailed a written notification of the incident to affected individuals on Sept. 10, notified the Federal Bureau of Investigation and implemented additional measures to improve its network security.

Local 1964 represents multistate workers in a variety of industries and occupations, including shipping, trucking and warehouse logistics, nurses, dialysis technicians, building maintenance workers, grocery store and laundry workers.
