Officers who took a two-hour kebab break receive written warnings

In a statement issued by three law firms on behalf of some of the victims’ families, they said they were still deeply upset and angry by the actions of Pc Bullough and PCSO Renshaw.

The statement said: “No amount of action will bring their loved ones back or undo their wounds, but the choices these individuals made on that horrific night cannot and should not be ignored.”

A report by Sir John Saunders, chairman of the inquiry, into security arrangements at the venue concluded that there had been “significant failings” by all five BTP officers on duty at the arena.

They had been instructed by their sergeant to ensure that at least one was present in the town room when the concert ended.

But they disobeyed orders, meaning no officers were patrolling the area around the arena when Abedi approached carrying the bomb.

The same officers were, however, praised for their response after the explosion – running into the foyer of the City Room to help the injured.
