The tastiest bagels in the UK can be found in… Sheffield?

A Jewish deli in Sheffield has been awarded the exalted status of best bagels anywhere in the UK.

Sheffield’s best bagels topped National Geographic’s list of the seven best bagel shops in the UK earlier this month, with Brick Lane’s iconic Beigel Bake taking second place.

According to National Geographic, Best Boy Bagels hand-rolls their freshly baked bagels and come “slathered with hand-made pickles, ferments and sauces made from locally sourced ingredients.”

London’s Beigel Bake, still run by its founders the Cohen family and open 24/7, took second place on the list, while The Bagel Guys, also in London, came fifth.

Third on the list was Edinburgh’s Bross Bagels and Nottingham’s The Bagel Project was number four. Family-run over 30-year-old Cooper’s Let’s Fress Deli was sixth, while Liverpool’s The Bagerly was seventh.
