Two transported to hospital after a head-on crash

Two people were taken to hospital after a head-on crash at Shoby Bends, near Melton, last night. The fire service, Leicestershire Police and the ambulance service attended the collision, which happened at around 7.15pm on Thursday on the A6006 at Shoby.

Two cars were involved in the crash and one person was still trapped inside their vehicle when Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service arrived at the scene. The other was being treated in an ambulance crew.




In their incident report, firefighters said that by 8pm they had helped the trapped driver out and handed him over to East Midlands Ambulance Service. Firefighters called in Leicestershire County Council’s highways team to clear the debris and oil from the road.

Both victims were transported to the hospital, and the firefighters left the scene around 8:20 p.m. At 21.50 yesterday, the police announced on X that the road had reopened.
