Live: M5 crash leaves holiday traffic snarled across Bristol

Drivers are queuing on the M5 through North Somerset and Bristol after a crash was reported on the motorway. One lane was closed southbound between Portishead and Clevedon, with delays extending across Bristol.


According to the National Highways, the highway is very congested and the traffic is queuing in spots between junctions 16 and 22. The problems are aggravated by the Friday holiday traffic.



Inrix traffic monitor reports: “One lane closed and queued due to accident and holiday traffic on the M5 Southbound from J19 A369 Martcombe Road (Portishead) to J20 B3133 Ettlingen Way (Clevedon). Congestion to J18A (M49 interchange). “

Second crash near Somerset beauty spot

As well as the problems on the M5, traffic is backing up near a village in Quantock Hills, Somerset, after a collision this afternoon, Friday 17 May. According to reports, the crash happened on the A358 near Crowcombe at around 2pm today. Congestion has been reported in the area and Google Maps is reporting significant delays along the road between Crowcombe and Flaxpool. 45 minute delays after the accident

Long delays due to holiday traffic on the M5 southbound at J20 B3133 Ettlingen Way (Clevedon). Congestion until after J17 (Cribbs Causeway). The journey takes about 45 minutes.
