Driver killed, child injured in crash involving car and dump truck in Birmingham

One person has died and a child has been injured in an afternoon crash in Birmingham.

The wreck happened around 4:45 p.m. Friday in the 3900 block of First Avenue. It involved a dump truck and a sedan, said Lt. Catina Williams. Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service.

The driver of the sedan was pronounced dead at the scene. A juvenile was transported to the hospital with undisclosed injuries.

The driver of the truck was not injured.

Birmingham police are investigating.
