Man faces court after being pulled over in Sheffield

A man has been charged in connection with an incident in which a gun was fired in the Batemoor area of ​​Sheffield.

Armed responding officers were called to White Thorn View on Monday night – after an altercation was reported involving a group of men and a woman suffering a suspected stabbing.

Her injuries are not considered life-threatening and no one else was injured.

A 39-year-old man charged with several offences, including possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

A spokesman for South Yorkshire Police said:

“A man has been charged following a firearms discharge in Sheffield.

“Officers have charged a 39-year-old man after a gun was discharged in the Batemoor area of ​​the city.

“We were called at 11.20pm on Monday (May 13) to reports of a discharge of firearms on White Thorn View.

“Officers including our Armed Response Officers and the National Police Air Service attended the scene and it is reported that an altercation took place between a group of men and a 41-year-old woman, in which the woman suffered a suspected stabbing. .

“The discharge of firearms is believed to have occurred after this altercation. Fortunately, the woman’s injuries are not considered life-threatening or life-altering, and no one was hurt by the discharge. She remains in the hospital at this time.

“Daniel Waterfall, of no fixed abode, was charged with possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, possession of an offensive weapon and wounding with intent. He has been charged and remanded in custody and is due to appear at Sheffield Crown Court today (Friday 17 May).”
