Japan shares fall at the close; The Nikkei 225 was down 1.03% by Investing.com

Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the , and sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Tokyo, it was down 1.03%.

The best performers of the session on the were Merchants Inc (TYO: ), which rose 4.43% or 106.00 points to 2,497.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Sharp Corp (TYO: ) added 4.05% or 35.80 points to end at 920.80 and NTT Data Corp. (TYO: ) was up 3.31% or 79.00 points to trade at 2,465.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Resona Holdings, Inc. (TYO: ), which declined 6.38% or 66.20 points to trade at 971.30 at the close. Advantest Corp. (TYO: ) declined 5.63% or 359.00 points to end at 6,016.00 and Tokyo Electron Ltd. (TYO: ) traded down 5.24% or 1,240.00 points to 22,440.00.

Declining stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange through 1879 to 1770, and 217 ended unchanged.

Crude oil for November delivery rose 0.64%, or 0.44, to $69.46 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodity trading, Brent crude for November delivery rose 0.47%, or 0.34, to $73.09 a barrel, while December gold futures rose 0.12 % or 3.20 to $2,612.10 per troy ounce.

USD/JPY was down 0.04% at 140.54, while EUR/JPY was down 0.07% at 156.44.

US dollar index futures fell 0.08% to 100.35.
