The clothes swap returns to Ealing Broadway

After February’s success, Ealing Broadway’s free clothes swap will be revamped next weekend (May 25/26).

The event, which will take place next to Flying Tiger Copenhagen, is run in partnership with Love Not Landfill and will give locals a sustainable way to recycle old or unwanted clothes in exchange for new, much-loved items.

After receiving donations on Saturday, the team will transform the space into a shop for visitors to browse after receiving a maximum of five tokens to spend on sustainably updating their wardrobes on Sunday.

The programs for the weekend events are as follows:

Saturday 25 May 10am – 4pm: Drop off your clothes at the exchange point next to Flying Tiger and pick up up to five tokens.
Sunday, May 26, 10:00am-4:00pm: Visitors can return, browse items and cash in tokens for new pre-loved items.

In 2023, 1,476 people were involved in the event, donating more than 4,500 items equivalent to approximately 1.2 tons of clothes prevented from going to landfill.

Andrew Rollings, Center Director at Ealing Broadway, said: “Community and sustainability are key priorities for us at Ealing Broadway, so it was brilliant to see how popular the Clothes Swap was last year, as well as the latest loved Uniform Shop. last month. We look forward to continuing to host them throughout the year and supporting the community by offering a range of pre-loved new items before summer.”

Ealing Broadway shoppers can also donate clothing throughout the year at Love Not Landfill’s three permanent clothes banks on the first floor and in St. Saviour’s Walk.
